Tying Shoelaces and Overboard Communication


i was looking for pictures about tying shoelaces for my students (with autism). i thought i would really have a hard time looking for one but the presentation of these pictures are very clear and i think my students would not be too frustrated with them (given that i would add arrows or markers to emphasize the action(s) of the step).

Make two loops or bunny ears







Position ear loops to form an "X"








Insert upper ear into the bottom hole of the "X"



Tighten loop by pulling ears apart
Cool! I find the website really interesting. But for the more elaborate version, you can just click here. There are other kinds of knots that are shown in case you want to teach your students, kids or...you want to do them yourself. =)

I also use the overboard communication program for my students since most of them need to learn how to initiate communicating their needs/wants. You can download a free trial here (it's only good for one month though) and see if it works for your students, especially for those who are just starting to communicate.
