Paperbag Puppets

Though it took me 4-5 hours to paint the paperbags, trace the patterns and cut the colored papers, it was really worth it cause my students really enjoyed making the puppets. All they did was put glue using a paintbrush and paste the patterns on the paperbag. But you could let your students cut the patterns and color them if you want. =) Here are the puppets we made:

Painting Clay for Kids

Lots of trial and error in finding a good clay recipe for Arts and Crafts. I even used the really sticky one...and it was hard for my students to shape them. Lesson learned: never use non-cooked clay for shaping and always make time to test any cooked materials. I didn't have time before..finishing papers for my prof and the school can be time-consuming enough. BUT, I finally found a good recipe. My students really enjoyed painting them. Though the clay is edible, they were really tempted to eat them while painting. So just be careful. =)

Keep it Clay
This mixture dries VERY hard great for making jewerly like beads etc.

1 (1-pound) box baking soda
1 cup cornstarch
1 1/4 cups cold water
Food coloring (Gel is best or leave it plain and paint later)
(the baking soda and the cornstarch cost P66.00 when you buy in Shoppersville, along Katipunan. this recipe is enough for only 5-10 students if you want it for an Arts and Crafts activity. but for a bigger class, you can use it during their playtime or just increase the measurement of the ingredients.)

Mix baking soda and cornstarch together then add water. Cook and stir over low heat until consistency of mashed potatoes. Remove the dough from the heat and cover with damp towel until it is cool enough to handle. Use for play dough or jewelry shaping or roll it out and cut with cookie cutter to make decorations.
Store in an air tight container.
